Chinese Apps

Anyone who has kids and an electronic device, especially an iPad, knows how kids love to play with them. And it's not always a bad thing, since there are thousands of great educational apps out there. It's a piece of cake to find a good app to help your kids learn to read English. Unfortunately, it's hard to find good Chinese apps to help your kids learn Chinese. We've searched through many, many apps, and most of them are terrible. Fortunately, we've found some great ones, and we will list them here with a review. Since we have an iPad, these are all iOS apps.

• Chinese Writer -- A fantastic way practice and really learn the Chinese characters, both for kids and adults. $10 for full access. It's worth it!

• 8 Free Chinese picture books by Tinman arts -- Great FREE books to fill your iPad with for your kids. Free, educational, cute (but only in Simplified Chinese, no English)
• Chinese Puzzle Cards 1 (拼音乐1) iPad App -- great FREE app for 1-3 year olds, teaches animals
• Ipad app for Chinese numbers, shapes, colors -- 益智... -- good for toddlers, FREE
